John Carlin
John was born in New York City, and grew up in New Rochelle, NY. The youngest of six children whose parents were actors, John took piano lessons when he was 8, and played the trumpet in the school band for 5 years. But he mostly liked playing sports, like soccer, Frisbee, and basketball. It wasn't until he was a teenager that John taught himself the guitar, and he never looked back. Some years later, he formed a band called 700 Miles (named for the distance they drove to make their demo, NYC Detroit), which released two CDs on RCA Records, and toured with Radiohead, PJ Harvey, and Counting Crows. After becoming a daddy, he started teaching music classes for little people in Brooklyn, NY, and writing and performing music for families. He considers himself one of the luckiest people on the planet. He likes watching movies with his daughter Julia, reading, hiking, swimming, and singing around a campfire. He also likes funny-sounding words, like ‘kerfuffle’, and ‘nincompoop’. |

Danny St. Echo
Danny was born and raised in Detroit. He used to spend hours working on his model train set. He started playing the saxophone at the age of 7, but switched to bass guitar at 17. In college, he formed a worldbeat/reggae band with some friends. The band, named (bop)Harvey, became very popular, and Danny toured all over North America for 10 whole years, playing over 2000 concerts (and embarking on his lifelong infatuation with big funny hats). He even got to perform for President Bill Clinton at his inauguration! Danny likes telling funny stories, doing magic tricks, and playing with his dog Roxie.

Zé Maurício
Ze was born and raised in Brazil, in the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro. When he was 4 years old, his sister Adriana was born, and he had the pleasure of choosing her name! At the age of 7, he started learning guitar, but quickly moved to the drums and he’s been drumming ever since. Some of the wonderful musicians Ze has played with include Yo-Yo Ma, Cyro Baptista, Wynton Marsalis, and Seu Jorge. He likes listening to all kinds of music, from Jorge Ben, and Pixinguinha, to The Police, Nirvana, Thelonious Monk, and Bob Marley. Besides music, he likes playing sports and taking pictures. His favorite food is tofu lasagna.

Sean Condron
Sean grew up in Queens, NY, and started playing music on the Irish tin whistle at the ripe old age of 7. He quickly realized that he wanted to pluck and pick rather than blow and toot, so he switched to guitar and banjo. He likes pizza and Krispy Kreme glazed donuts and all those blind dudes who play the blues, like Blind Blake, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Blind Willie McTell, and Reverend Gary Davis (who is blind but doesn't make a big deal out of it). Sean has quite a collection of wheatback pennies. (Ed.: that means old pennies.)

Alesia Williams
Alesia is a lady of colors, and loves to color the world with music. She’s happiest when she’s singing and sharing music with people; music that comes from the heart. Born on the beautiful island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, she came to the USA in 2000, landing in Brooklyn. She started singing in church when she was 5, and has been singing ever since. She’s sung with many choirs, and loves listening to gospel, R & B, and the blues. She also loves ice cream, and having milk and cookies before bedtime. She especially loves butterflies, and believes everyone is like a caterpillar, waiting to be transformed into a beautiful butterfly. |
